Since the end of 2020, the European plastics processing industry has been experiencing difficulties to obtain the necessary raw materials for its production, given that stock is minimal.
The shortage of raw materials accentuates the bottlenecks in materials supply, thus compromising the production of products made of plastic.
In addition to the lack of raw materials, there is an increase in their prices, which has not stopped rising since the beginning of 2021 and is reaching historic highs. Depending on the materials involved, prices have increased by 20% to 50% compared to the beginning of this year.
Given this global situation, more than 60% of plastic processors think that the market situation will not return to normal before the third quarter of this year.
This price increase of raw materials very seriously affects the plastic industry and more specifically the companies engaged in plastics processing.
