Traditional “Y” strainers are not designed to operate vertically with upward water flow. Although solids are retained, they remain in the system, affecting performance negatively. In addition, when the force water is reduced, solids fall, hitting valves and other components of the installation.
With the filter placed in the reverse direction, the result is similar: the gravel is still circulating within the system and, as they cannot be removed, the stones continue to hit and damage the elements of the system.
Hidroten has created the "Stone" vertical strainer filter, specially designed to work with an upward flow of water.
The basket shaped mesh blocks the solids, which are collected in the lower part of the filter. The filtered particles are contained in the lower part of the filter, without affecting the other elements of the system and facilitating the extraction process.
